This interdisciplinary minor is required by and open only to students from the College of Education pursuing a second major in Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology or Sociology. This minor prepares students to meet the requirements of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to teach Social Studies in grades 4-12.
College of Education students majoring in Middle/Secondary Education and aiming to teach social studies must complete a social science content area major (Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology or Sociology) as well as the Teaching Social Studies Grades 4–12 minor. The minor consists of course work required for licensure by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to teach middle school and high school social studies.
