Program Description
The Department of Psychology offers courses and training leading to the master of science (M.S.) in applied psychology data analytics. The applied psychology data analytics program trains graduates to combine psychological expertise and quantitative skills. Students receive training to integrate big data with psychological principles and methods to produce a unique skillset to address the most complex of life’s challenges. Training includes course work and practical experiences utilizing data. Graduates will have a unique skillset that gives them the ability to uncover valuable insights from complex human behavior data that are needed to make informed decisions in various fields including health care, education, insurance, business, industry, government, the military, and a range of community settings.
Multicultural Awareness and Professional Integration Program (MAPIP)
The MAPIP program is specialized training available to graduate students in the Department of Psychology. It is intended to assist students in gaining additional knowledge of multicultural issues. This includes increased awareness of the multicultural psychology research, increased understanding of diverse groups and cultures, and self-reflection of how diversity awareness can be integrated into their professional careers. The Department of Psychology offers a two-year, 36-credit master's degree program in applied psychology data analytics. Six PSYC courses (18 credit hours) and 4 COSC courses (12 credit hours) are required, along with two electives (6 credit hours) taken from either Psychology or another department for a total of 36 credits. The elective credits enable students to individualize their experience and training. Students must also conduct an applied capstone project (Plan B PSYC 6998 Professional Project in Psychology), either in collaboration with an agency with appropriate data or by utilizing a publicly-available dataset.

MASTER'S DEGREE WITH THE DATA SCIENCE CERTIFICATE
The Department of Computer Science offers a data science certificate. Applied psychology data analytics master's students will be automatically enrolled into the APDA master's program and the data science certificate by the Graduate School Admission office. The required course work listed above satisfies the requirements for the master’s degree and the certificate, as outlined in the university bulletin for each program. With the approval of the APDA director of graduate studies, course work completed prior to admission may be allowed to apply toward program requirements.
Students who are dually enrolled in the master’s and the data science certificate may enroll in a secondary master’s that also accepts the data science certificate and complete the remaining requirements for that degree.

Accelerated Bachelor's-Master's Degree Program
The accelerated degree program (ADP) in applied psychology data analytics is designed to give Marquette University undergraduates a more efficient means to obtain a master’s degree in psychology. Undergraduate majors appropriate for the ADP include, but are not limited to: psychology, computer science, social science, and data science.
Advanced undergraduate students begin the program in their senior year to graduate with one additional year of study by completing 6 credit hours of course work per semester their senior year. In the final year, they will complete 12 credits per semester, completing a total of 36 credit hours.
Students work with the program director to personalize a course of study using elective courses and create an individual professional project to complete before being awarded their master’s degree.
Applicants must have:
- A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.000.
- Proficiency in foundational statistics.
- Information systems (coding/programming) competency.
To be considered for admission to the five-year program, applicants must formally apply to the Graduate School during their junior year at Marquette University, complete all of the application requirements, and indicate on the application that they are applying for the five-year program.
