Consistent with the university's mission of excellence, faith, leadership and service, the goals of the Special Education Grades K-12 minor are to develop educators in cross-categorical special education who are:
1. Advocates and practitioners of equity and justice in schools and communities.
2. Designers and facilitators of ambitious curriculum and pedagogy informed by theory, context, and students’ thinking and experiences,
3. Imaginative, critical thinkers who reflect on ways to improve teaching and learning, and
4. Compassionate professionals who embody cura personalis (a Jesuit ideal of care for the person) to create learning environments and to empower learners through reciprocal relationships of dignity and respect.
