The Diederich College of Communication offers a 9-credit concentration in Communication Leadership, which is designed to prepare undergraduate students in a variety of communication disciplines to be leaders across diverse career fields and industries related to communication. Upon successful completion of the three-year program, students earn a concentration in Communication Leadership that is noted on their transcript.

Participation in this program gives students the opportunity to develop leadership skills in a cohort environment in the College of Communication, while also allowing them opportunities to interact with students in similar programs, such as the E-Lead program housed in the College of Engineering.

Beginning with the LeaderShape experience, taken alongside students in engineering, business, and other colleges, students in the C-Lead concentration are exposed to multiple aspects of leadership and team building. Across the three, in-class courses, they work in cohorts to learn, practice and hone leadership skills in their particular discipline. Through the Leadership Mentor Program, students have the opportunity to create and develop professional networks as they learn directly from prominent leaders in various fields.

This program seeks to develop leaders in the field of communication who become part of a community that is committed to growing as leaders, individuals and colleagues, all striving to make a difference in their own personal and professional lives as well as those around them.

Students interested in this concentration apply to the program in early fall of the sophomore year. The Undergraduate Curriculum Committee reviews applications, selects program participants and notifies them prior to advising week so that they can enroll in the first two program courses.
