MAJORS AND MINORS OVERVIEW

The College of Health Sciences offers four undergraduate majors and two minors.

MAJORS

Students who declare a major offered by the College of Health Sciences must be a resident in the college to complete the major and earn the corresponding degree. Detailed information about major requirements are outlined in the bulletin section of the program/department offering the major.

• Biomedical Sciences is offered by the Department of Biomedical Sciences
• Medical Laboratory Science is offered by the Department of Medical Laboratory Science
• Exercise Physiology is offered by the Program in Exercise Science in the Department of Physical Therapy
• Speech Pathology and Audiology is offered by the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology

Students in the College of Health Sciences who successfully complete the Core Honors curriculum may earn a degree of honors bachelor of science.  Students who complete both the Comprehensive Honors curriculum (both Disciplinary and Core Honors) may earn a degree of comprehensive honors bachelor of science.  Within the College of Health Sciences, Disciplinary Honors is available in the majors of exercise physiology and biomedical sciences. 

MINORS

Detailed information about minor requirements are outlined in the bulletin section of the respective department or college. The following minors are offered through the College of Health Sciences:

• Minor in biomedical sciences offered by the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
• Minor in neuroscience, an interdisciplinary minor offered by the College of Health Sciences

Other

The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology also offers a post-baccalaureate prerequisite program in Speech Pathology and Audiology as a non-degree program at the undergraduate level.

Advanced Degree Programs

The following degrees/programs are conferred through Health Sciences Professional (HESP) within the College of Health Sciences:

• Doctor of physical therapy offered by the Department of Physical Therapy
• Master of athletic training offered by the Department of Physical Therapy
• Master of physician assistant studies offered by the Department of Physician Assistant Studies
• Doctor of occupational therapy offered by the Department of Occupational Therapy
• Certificate in medical laboratory science offered by the Department of Medical Laboratory Science
• Pre-dental enhancement post-baccalaureate program offered by Biomedical Sciences.

The following degrees are conferred through the Graduate School at Marquette University: 

• Master of science in speech-language pathology with an optional specialization in bilingual English-Spanish (offered by the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology);
• Master of science in biomedical sciences (offered by the Department of Biomedical Sciences);
• Master of science in Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences (offered by the Department of Physical Therapy)
• Doctor of philosophy in Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences (offered by the Department of Physical Therapy)
• Master of science in Sports and Exercise Analytics offered by the Department of Physical Therapy.

Biomedical sciences faculty participate in the doctoral specialization in neuroscience through the interdisciplinary neuroscience program in the Graduate School. Details for these programs can be found in the Graduate School section of the bulletin.
