In order to further education, promote research and inform policy and service activities, a number of units on campus have established academic centers and institutes. These centers and institutes offer the opportunity for active collaboration, research and service in a variety of programmatic areas.

Centers and institutes are designed to bring a strategic focus to the study of complex problems to complement the instructional and/or research efforts of the university. Opportunities are available for student participation in the programs of several of the centers and institutes, which have active involvement and participation of faculty members.
