Film and Media Studies, BA

Chairperson: Amanda Keeler, Ph.D.

The interdisciplinary program in Film and Media Studies enables students to gain a complex understanding of media and the ways it shapes the world and our ability to act in it. Students engage in critical analyses of media practices, texts and audiences. From journalism to advertising to public relations and film, students examine media within historical, cultural, social, economic, legal and ethical contexts. Rooted in the liberal arts discipline, Film and Media Studies provides the theoretical and methodological background needed to prepare graduates to be citizens of the world. Graduates are broadly trained to think and write critically in a variety of academic and professional settings.
